Eggbert... and a haircut

I gave Claire her first haircut on Saturday (I just couldn't stand looking at the "bangs" hanging in her face any longer!). I thought I'd take a picture to show off her new look. What I didn't realize is that if I didn't immediately take a picture, she'd end up sporting a brand new egg on her forehead as well as her new do.

In case you're wondering, she got this egg after falling off a chair while I was standing next to her... she just moves so fast!

Sour Puss - Take 2

The first couple pictures show Claire after she's tasted lemon juice. The last one demonstrates why Claire needed a trim so desperately.

Love this...

Never mind the hair hanging in her face and the food hanging from her lip... love this picture... this sweet little look... and this little girl.

Spider Girl

Maybe it started with the song... I'm not entirely sure. This little girl LOVES to climb. It started when she was much smaller and would work soooo hard to get herself up on the couch and then proceed to walk off the furniture as if it was not elevated off the ground whatsoever. Then, we introduced her to Claire-sized chairs that she loves to stand on.

Now, we've reach new heights, so to speak. I found Claire trying to stand on the shelf inside her stove so that she could reach the little microwave on her kitchen. When I discouraged that behavior, she dragged one of her little chairs over to the kitchen. She's clever, I'll give her that.

You would know that she absolutely loves the turntable in her microwave - the one thing she really can't reach yet. We've again removed all Claire-sized furniture and adult-sized other things that can be used as furniture. Hopefully, her spidey phase is nearing the end of its run. I don't even want to think about what happens when the time comes for her to get out of her crib. I may have to remove all the furniture from her room...fun times.

Sour Puss

Lately, Claire has been doing a strange thing. When the refrigerator door is open, she pulls out the bottle of lemon juice and insists on having some. At first, we would just distract her with a more appropriate beverage, but she has become more persistent.

Finally, we gave in and put a drop of lemon juice on our finger and let her taste it. She screws up her face, but then asks for more.

Yesterday, we decided to see how she'd like grapefruit. She ate half a grapefruit and was delighted with it.

Not sure where she's getting this love of sour foods... certainly not from me!

Christmas Photos

Here are a few pictures of Claire doing one of the cutest things... singing "Itsy Bitsy Spider". Note how she gets the whole room involved in her antics.

New Year... New Philosophy

Well... we'll see how long this lasts. I've decided that since I've been woefully inadequate at documenting Claire since returning to work when Claire was 3 months, I need to capture what she's doing on the blog. There may not always be pictures... it's really more for us (and Claire) than for anyone else, but maybe you'll enjoy these thoughts.

*******************
Claire had a fun Christmas - got lots of fun toys... she doesn't know what to do with so many new things!

She's so much fun these days - saying more and more things... some of her faves: mama, dada, "buh bye", night night, milk, waffle, No!, kitty, juice, cookie, more. You can really tell what's important to her based on her vocabulary.

Lately, I've noticed that she wants me when she's with Jeff, and wants Daddy when she's with me. She knows how to play us.

The best thing she does lately... she loves when I give her butterfly kisses... she asks for more... it can go on and on. It's not like I'm going to stop.

She's recently given up her morning nap... hopefully that will last. I like her disposition on this new schedule.
